In the month of February 2019, OVFC responded to 44 calls. Volunteers put in a collective 79 hours of training the month of February.

Railroad Tie Fire

On Tuesday night, the 911 Center became quickly inundated with calls for a large fire located in the Town of Orange behind businesses along Caroline Street. OVFC units answered the call and found a massive stock pile of railroad ties on fire. After multiple hours and assistance from Norfolk Southern the fire was contained.

No Caption Virginia Burn Law goes into effect February 15th

This is a reminder that Virginia’s 4:00 PM Burn Law goes into effect February 15th. The 4 PM ban comes into effect each spring during period of extreme fire danger. The 4 PM ban remains in effect until April 30th. Burning debris continues to be the leading cause of forest fires in the Commonwealth. The information below pertains specifically to the burn law:
